Disney World Reopening Plan

  • Masks must be worn by all guests and cast members
  • Temperature screenings upon entry
  • Enhanced cleaning of high touch contact areas
  • Adding more contactless payment systems
  • Expand mobile ordering platform
  • Closing of some high touch contact areas
  • adding plexiglass barriers at point of sale
  • Pre-arrival reservation system
  • Reducing capacity of parks & attractions
  • Parades and fireworks will be suspended
  • Creating a social distance squad

Disney states on their Disney Parks Blog, “This phased reopening will demonstrate a deliberate approach, with limits on attendance and controlled guest density that aligns with guidance on physical distancing. That means certain experiences we know draw large group gatherings – such as parades and nighttime spectaculars – will return at a later date. In addition, “high-touch” experiences such as makeover opportunities, playgrounds and character meet and greets will remain temporarily unavailable, but characters will still be in our parks to entertain and delight our guests.”

Pre-arrival Reservation System & Limited Ticket Sales

To reduce theme park capacity, Walt Disney World’s reopening will be significantly limiting attendance. This will be done through an advanced reservation system that will require guests to obtain a reservation for park entry.

In addition, Disney World has halted new ticket sales and Disney Resort Hotel reservations to focus on guest with existing tickets and reservations first. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservations requests in phases before new tickets are sold.

Disney will post more information about this new entry reservation system soon.

Disney World Will Require Face Masks

Upon reopening, Disney World will require face masks or face coverings to be worn by all guests 3 years of age and older. This is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by asymptomatic guests.

This has been a hot topic of debate on many Disney Facebook groups. Disney is following in line with all other theme parks by requiring masks to be worn at all times in public areas.

Social Distancing Squad

A social distancing squad was created for Disney Springs. They will be expanding this squad to the parks as well. This team will “encourage” guests to follow social distancing guidelines and wear their masks.
